Malaysia McDonald's has signed up as a partner of the forthcoming 29th SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur.

The Malaysian arm of the multinational fast food chain has been named as a silver sponsor of the events in a deal worth up to RM1 million (US$230,000). The total is made up of a combination of cash, goods and services offered to Masoc, the organising committee of the Games.

"The sponsorship today is nothing new for McDonald's, especially with its involvement as a sponsor in the Olympics," said Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia's youth and sports minister and Masoc chairman. "I understand that it is the company’s first appearance in the history of the Southeast Asian Games. I am happy with the development. Masoc is pleased to accept the participation of McDonald's which is a global and extensive brand."

The SEA Games will begin on 19th August, with the ASEAN Para Games following on 17th September.
