Mazda have reached an agreement with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to sponsor the celebrity challenge, a curtain-raiser to the 2014 Formula One Australian Grand Prix.
Twenty celebrities will line-up on the Albert Park grid in the new Mazda3 hatchbacks which are set to go on public sale in early 2014.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation chief executive Andrew Westacott said in the press release, “We’re delighted to welcome Mazda back on board for the 2014 Mazda3 celebrity challenge. The race adds so much excitement and glamour to an already action packed weekend of racing.”
“With huge crowds watching both trackside and at home, the 2014 Mazda3 celebrity challenge provides us with a great opportunity to showcase all-new Mazda3. We look forward to working with a dynamic mix of celebrities and introducing them to a whole new world of zoom-zoom,” added Mazda Australia’s marketing director Alastair Doak.
The 2014 race weekend, once again the opening event on the Formula One calendar, will be held between 13th and 16th March. Reigning race champion Kimi Raikkonen will hope to retain his crown when he returns with his new Ferrari team.
