Matchroom Sport locks in seven-year Sky Sports renewal

Sports event promotion company Matchroom Sport has extended its broadcast deal with UK pay-TV giant Sky Sports for a further seven years.

The agreement, which runs until 2025, will see the broadcaster continue to show major events operated by Matchroom across eight different sports, including pool’s Mosconi Cup, Fish’O’Mania and tenpin bowling’s Weber Cup.

The rights package also covers the World Cup of Pool, World Pool Masters, PGA EuroPro Tour golf highlights, the World Championship of Ping Pong and events in British netball, basketball and gymnastics.

Barry Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that we have been able to extend our relationship with Sky Sports for a further seven years. The support of Sky Sports has been fundamental to the success of Matchroom’s biggest events and it is great news for sports fans that coverage of Matchroom multi-sport events and the PGA EuroPro Tour will continue well into the next decade.”

The deal follows Sky Sports’ extended agreement with the Professional Darts Corporation to continue showing the annual PDC World Darts Championship, which is also promoted by Matchroom.
