Third-tier English soccer club Notts County have announced Macesport as their new main sponsor for the 2017/18 season.
The Nottingham-based sports communication consultancy will have its branding imprinted on the front of the League Two side’s playing shirts, and will also become the team’s matchday training wear partner.
As part of the agreement, Macesport has designed a commemorative logo which will incorporate the single Magpie motif worn by Notts County when they competed in English soccer’s top flight in the early 1980s.
Paul Mace, founder and managing director of Macesport, said: “As a company we are proud of our Nottingham heritage and our very close relationships and friendships throughout the global sporting family. It is important that we invest back into sport and we are proud to be the first-ever public relations company to be the main sponsor of an English professional football club.”
Mace, who is a lifelong Notts County supporter, added: “Notts County are the world's oldest professional club and gave Juventus their black and white stripes over 100 years ago. Likewise, we at Macesport are pioneers in providing specialist sports communications services. Of course, I'm biased, but Notts County are a real football club with real football fans and you should never forget your roots.”
The announcement comes only a few days after Notts County confirmed a host of shirt sponsor deals as part of their new monthly sponsorship scheme, which aims to give local businesses the opportunity to partner with a professional sports team.
