Belgium and Manchester United soccer star Romelu Lukaku has become the first Premier League player to join US rapper Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency.
The move was announced on photo-sharing app Instagram, with Lukaku posing for a photo in New York alongside Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette. He was joined by former New York giants wide receiver, Victor Cruz, and Shawn Costner, a senior management executive at Roc Nation Sports.
Lukaku, 24, is the second soccer player to be added to Roc Nation Sports’ roster, joining Germany and Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng. The agency, which is an extension of the Roc Nation entertainment company, predominantly boasts clients from the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB).
The deal is not thought to affect Lukaku’s relationship with his agent Mino Raiola, who also looks after United teammates Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Lukaku’s United side sit second in the Premier League, 16 points behind cross-city rivals Manchester City. They travel to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace in their next game on Monday.
