Watchmaker Longines will be the official timekeeper of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The deal will leave the Swiss brand responsible for the timing, scoring and results for the multi-sports event, which will be held in Australia’s Gold Coast.

“With 6,600 athletes demonstrating greatness rarely seen on the field, track or in the pool, Longines will be delivering precise timing, scoring and result services to feed the global broadcast and provide official results for every heat, match and final across every event at GC2018,” said Peter Beattie, chairman of Gold Coast 2018.

“For GC2018, signing our first international tier one partner with over one year to go, illustrates the reputation GC2018 is developing as a strong brand with international appeal.”

Longines’ head of marketing, Juan-Carlos Capelli, added, “Longines is delighted to be the official partner of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, one of the most famous sporting events in the world. “We are really proud that the organisers have placed their trust in our brand and have chosen us as Official Timekeeper of all the competitions, which will be held during the event.

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will take place between 4th and 15th April.
