L’Equipe wins TV rights for selected soccer qualifiers

French sports channel L’Equipe, part of the Amaury group, has acquired the live broadcasting rights for a selection of qualifying matches of European national soccer teams.

The deal, however, excludes France’s national team, whose fixtures are broadcast on TF1.

L'Equipe will show live coverage of the qualifying rounds for the 2018 and 2022 Fifa World Cups, global soccer’s showpiece international tournament, as well as for the pan-continental Uefa European Championship in 2020.

The rights for the qualifying stages were previously held by Canal Plus.

Free-to-air L’Equipe will broadcast approximately 50 live matches of European national teams, as well as highlights of the French men’s national team.
