Italian public broadcaster Rai and pan-European sports network Eurosport have agreed three-year deals to land the rights for the Lega Basket, the top tier of basketball in Italy.
Starting from the 2017/18 season, Rai will provide live free-to-air coverage of one game per week every Sunday until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
Meanwhile, Eurosport has acquired the domestic pay-TV rights for the league over the same period, and will show live coverage of matches on its television and OTT platforms on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The Discovery-owned broadcaster has also secured the international rights for two seasons starting from the 2018/19 campaign.
Venice-based Reyer Venezia Mestre were crowned champions of the Lega Basket in 2016/17, defeating Aquila Basket Trento 4-2 in the best-of-seven play-off final.
