Planned United Soccer League (USL) expansion team the Las Vegas Lights FC have announced a three-year partnership with Zappos for the 2018/19 season.
The online retailer will be the new US second-tier club’s shirt sponsor as well as their exclusive e-commerce partner.
Zappos, which will activate its partnership at the Lights’ exhibition game against Montreal Impact on 10th February, will see its branding feature prominently on the Las Vegas outfit’s home and away kits, and will also play a part in the design. It will be able to sell official merchandise on its online site and at its Las Vegas store.
In addition, the Nevada-based company will host tailgate parties during the season at the team’s home ground, Cashman Field.
‘Our club is proud to call downtown Las Vegas our home, and there is no more emblematic partner for us than Zappos,’ Brett Lashbrook, owner of the Las Vegas Lights, wrote in a statement. ‘We have our sights set on breaking the traditional American sports model in many ways. We look forward to showing both Lights FC’s and Zappos’ commitment to providing a unique partnership that our fans can enjoy while continuing to help downtown Las Vegas grow.’
“This partnership gives us at Zappos the opportunity to help our community grow for our residents as well as sports fans everywhere,” added Loren Becker, community manager at Zappos.
