British automotive company Land Rover has renewed its sponsorship deal with the British and Irish Lions rugby union team, made up of the best players from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
The firm will continue as the official vehicle of the Lions, and serve as the principal partner of their tour of New Zealand next year, marking the sixth consecutive tour it has worked with the team, dating back to 1997.
The deal will see Land Rover supply vehicles to support the operational requirements of the Lions, both on the tour of New Zealand and while in the UK.
Land Rover has a long history of supporting rugby at all levels, including having been the worldwide partner of last year's Rugby World Cup in England and Wales.
“Land Rover has been at the heart of rugby, from the grassroots to the elite, for over two decades," said Mark Cameron, experiential marketing director at Jaguar Land Rover. "We share the same passion, resolve and integrity that sits within the core of the game. It is therefore fitting that Land Rover sponsor The British & Irish Lions for a sixth time. The Lions is a prestigious team with a renowned history that any player would want to be part of. Through its heritage in rugby, Land Rover has been part of The Lions team and is part of its history. Previous tours have shown the special nature of The Lions and The British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand 2017 promises to be no different.”
