The National Football League’s (NFL) Los Angeles Chargers have announced that Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian will serve as their official healthcare partner.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hoag and Hoag Orthopaedic Institute will provide the AFC West division franchise with comprehensive healthcare from physicians who are specifically trained and experienced in caring for professional athletes.
Additionally, the partnership will see the club’s training facility in Costa Mesa, California named the Hoag Performance Centre.
“The Chargers have a history of innovation and a passion for serving the community,” said Alex Spanos, president of business operations for the Chargers. “Partnering with a world class healthcare provider like Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian - one that shares a similar history of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is thought possible, and a commitment to community - is a perfect fit.”
“We are excited to welcome the Chargers to Orange County and provide our world-class services to the region’s newest professional sports organisation,” added Robert Braithwaite, Hoag’s president and chief executive officer.
“The Chargers executive team made it clear that they wanted only the very best in clinical talent, technology and facilities to care for their coaches and players, and we couldn’t be prouder that they selected Hoag and the Hoag Orthopaedic Institute as their official healthcare partner.”
Having relocated to San Diego in 1961, the Chargers will return to Los Angeles for the 2017 NFL season, just one year after the Los Angeles Rams moved back to the city from St Louis. The Chargers play their first game of the new campaign away to the Denver Broncos on 11th September.
