Deal represents the cereal brand’s first sports sponsorship.
Kellogg’s Special K cereal will sponsor the first ever Australian Football League (AFL) Women’s competition.
The agreement, will marks the first time the global cereal brand has partnered with a sporting event, will see Special K become the Australian rules football tournament’s official breakfast cereal and breakfast snack partner. The sponsorship will form part of the brand’s #OwnIt campaign, which aims to raise awareness of women’s health issues.
“To be a sponsorship partner of AFLW was an opportunity we couldn’t miss,” said Tamara Howe, Kellogg’s marketing director. “The league and Special K both live and breathe the purpose of inspiring strength in Aussie women. Special K has a role to play in helping women achieve their full potential by providing women with nourishing foods to help them live life at full strength.”
The AFL Women’s competition will be made up of eight teams competing across eight weeks. The first ever match will be between the Victoria Blues and the Collingwood Magpies at Ikon Park, Melbourne on 3rd February.
