British multinational construction and agricultural machinery manufacturer has become an official partner of Land Rover BAR, Britain's entry into this year's America's Cup.
The company will provide Land Rover BAR with a range of machinery and technology to help their efforts in the sailing contest, both at the team's home base in Portsmouth and in Bermuda, where the 35th edition of the Cup will be held this summer.
JCB’s engineering capabilities will also be put to use to help the Land Rover BAR Academy team, who are competing in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, also in Bermuda.
"The 35th America’s Cup will be fought out against some of the best sailors in the world," said Sir Ben Ainslie, team principal and skipper of Land Rover BAR. "Knowing we have the support of such an iconic engineering company in JCB is fantastic. The crews both on and off the water need the best equipment to allow us to perform at this level, this partnership really allows us to do that.”
The Louis Vuitton Cup, which will determine who faces Oracle Team USA in the final showdown for the Auld Mug, begins later this month, on 26th May. Land Rover BAR take two points into the contest, having won the America's Cup World Series.
