Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed a one-year commercial agreement with Hublot.
The Swiss luxury watchmaker will serve as an official partner of the national governing body for the 2017/18 summer cricket season in a deal which covers the Ashes series against England that began last week.
Hublot, which is already a partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and holds a brand ambassador agreement with former Australia captain Michael Clarke, will receive rights to the countdown clock on in-stadium signage, which is used to count down until the start of the coin toss and each session during games.
The LVMH-owned company will also produce 32 limited edition Classic Fusion Ashes Watches to recognise the 32 series both Australia and England have won. The winning team captain will then be presented with a 33rd watch at the end of the ongoing series.
Additionally, Hublot will be a presenting partner of an award at the Allan Border Medal, CA’s annual premier awards event.
Ben Amarfio, CA’s general manager of broadcasting, digital media and commercial, said: “We are very excited to have a globally renowned luxury brand such as Hublot coming on board as a partner of Cricket Australia, and to be working with them in creating these limited-edition watches to celebrate Australia’s most famous sporting contest.
“It’s only fitting that this time-honoured series sees one of the world’s luxury watch brands being associated with one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events - the Ashes.”
Australia won the first Ashes Test by a comprehensive margin of ten wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The second Test gets underway at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
