Huawei has signed an agreement with the Dubai Sports Council to become the presenting sponsor of this year’s Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, the finale of the competitive international beach soccer season.
The deal is the mobile phone brand’s first major sponsorship in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will see the tournament named the Huawei Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup.
The financial details of the partnership have not been released.
Gene Jiao, president of the Huawei Consumer Business Group in the Middle East and Africa, said: “Huawei has always been passionate about connecting people, and especially activities and moments that unite the region. We believe in celebrating speed and performance and that’s what Huawei products stand for.
“In line with that philosophy, we are proud and honoured to announce our partnership with Dubai Sports Council for the exciting Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup 2017, to power up this amazing global sports event with the latest intelligent performance technology from Huawei.”
Saeed Hareb, general secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, added: “We are delighted to welcome Huawei, a global leader in information and communication technology, aboard as the presenting sponsor.
“The Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the sport, attracting the best teams and big crowds every year. Now, with a new stadium at Marasi Business Bay and a new sponsor, we are confident the tournament will be an even bigger success and attract even greater crowds.”
