Carmaker Holden has extended its sponsorship of the ANZ Championship, Australia and New Zealand’s elite netball competition.
Under the terms of the new deal, which extends a partnership that began six years ago, Holden will have a presence at all ANZ Championship matches taking place in New Zealand throughout the 2013 season, with branding on goalpost padding, court decals and arena signage.
News of Holden’s renewal comes a day after Japanese carmaker Honda signed a deal to sponsor all ANZ Championship matches taking place across the Tasman Sea in Australia.
Holden New Zealand’s general marketing manager Marnie Samphier said: “Netball is such an iconic sport in New Zealand and we are delighted to be part of helping grow the sport to where it is today.
“From the five-year-old players in the community centres throughout the country to the elite players we see on television, netball has always been close to Kiwis’ hearts and we are elated to be a part of it.”
ANZ Championship general manager Andy Crook added: “The ANZ Championship is the world’s greatest netball league and Holden’s commitment to netball in New Zealand reflects this.
“This is the sixth year we have enjoyed Holden’s involvement and we are delighted to have them on board with us in New Zealand as the sport and the ANZ Championship continues to go from strength to strength.”
The 2013 ANZ Championship started last weekend. Every match this year will be broadcast live in New Zealand by Sky Sport.
