IndyCar Series outfit Team Penske have extended their partnership with Hitachi for the 2018 season.
The deal will see the Japanese conglomerate serve as the primary sponsor of reigning champion Josef Newgarden’s number one Dallara Chevrolet for eight races in this year’s edition of North America’s premier open wheel motor racing championship.
Hitachi will also continue to serve as an associate sponsor on Team Penske’s other IndyCar entries, including the cars driven by Simon Pagenaud, the 2016 series champion, and Will Power, the 2014 title winner.
The extension prolongs a partnership which dates back to 2012. Financial terms of the new agreement have not been disclosed.

The 2018 IndyCar Series begins with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in Florida on 11th March.
