The Hertz Corporation has teamed up with the Oklahoma City Thunder to co-sponsor Green Week, an NBA initiative for environmental awareness.
The sponsorship includes having a Connect by Hertz car sharing vehicle on display at Thunder home games, a special offer on Hertz's Green Collection vehicles, and Hertz tips for driving green publicised on the Oklahoma City Thunder official website.
Connect by Hertz had a Ford Escape on display at the Thunder home games on April 4, April 7, and April 9, along with representatives from Hertz to discuss the green collection and the green element of car sharing. The Escape is from the Connect by Hertz fleet available at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. The representatives will provide attendees with tips for "driving green" and will be handing out flyers that include a special US$30 off a weekly Hertz Green Collection rental. In addition, 5,000 attendees of the April 7 game received a co-branded, Hertz and Thunder reusable shopping bag in honour of Green Week.
Hertz's newest entity, Connect by Hertz car sharing, encourages the use of mass and alternative transportation options and it is estimated that for every car sharing vehicle on the road, up to fourteen personal vehicles are taken off the street.
