HBO to air Vitali Klitschko v Manuel Charr
American television network HBO has acquired the broadcast rights to Vitali Klitschko's upcoming defence of the WBC heavyweight title against Manuel Charr.
The deal, announced by the Klitschko brothers' promotional agency K2 Promotions, comes as somewhat of a surprise given that the network has only aired two of the Vitali's previous nine fights.
The fight, which takes place on September 8th in Moscow, will be broadcast on tape-delay as part of a live boxing doubleheader featuring middleweights Andre Ward and Chad Dawson and lightweights Antonio DeMarco and John Molina.
"We have a main event with two of the best fighters in the world. Opening up with a Klitschko fight makes the whole night bigger," said HBO senior vice president of sports programming speaking to Boxingscene.com.
