Top-flight Brazilian soccer sides Grêmio and Internacional have both extended their shirt sponsorship deals with technology giant Apple’s Brazilian retail partner iPlace.
Both agreements run for the remainder of the 2018 season and will see iPlace’s branding continue to adorn the sleeve of each Campeonato Brasiliero Série A outfits’ playing shirts.
In addition, Internacional’s renewed deal will see iPlace provide fans with discounts and access to a customised product line.
The Brazilian retailer first partnered with Grêmio in July followed by Internacional in August.
Germano Grings, chief executive of iPlace's parent company Grupo Herval, said: "This sponsorship increases our growth strategy, which goes a long way towards valuing our public. The iPlace and Herval Group brands are synonymous with quality and proximity to the consumer, and this new step makes us even more assertive in that regard."
Grêmio finished fourth in Campeonato Brasiliero Série A in 2017, securing qualification for group stages of this year’s Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition. They are currently 11th in the Campeonato Gaúcho, the Rio Grande do Sul’s state league, and beat Brasil Pelotas 2-1 at home on 7th February. They will face Independiente away in their next Campeonato Gaúcho fixture on 15th February.
Internacional, meanwhile, came 13th in Campeonato Brasiliero Série A, and stand third in the Campeonato Gaúcho. They won 4-0 at home to EC São José on 8th February, and will host Juventude on Thursday.
