Golfer Dustin Johnson becomes RBC brand ambassador

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has added American Dustin Johnson to its extensive roster of golf endorsers.

The current world number one, 33, has signed a multi-year deal to become the newest member of the bank’s 14-member brand ambassador stable, which includes Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker and Brooke Henderson.

Johnson, a 17-time winner on the PGA Tour and 2016 US Open champion, will sport the RBC logo on his apparel and golf bag during competitions, while he will also make appearances and feature in marketing campaigns for the company.

RBC already has a strong presence in professional golf as the title sponsor of the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open tournaments, both of which feature on the PGA Tour.

"My goal is to be the best in the game and win as many championships as possible, and I'm grateful for RBC's support and belief in me,” Johnson said in a statement.

“I have enjoyed getting to know them better over the past few years through playing in the RBC Canadian Open. Now that my relationship with RBC has expanded to brand ambassador, I can't wait to achieve more milestones together.”

Ranked among SportsPro’s 2017 list of the world’s 50 most marketable athletes, Johnson already boasts a stacked personal sponsorship portfolio, having forged relationships with the likes of TaylorMade, Adidas, Netjets, Hublot, New Era, EA Sports and BodyArmor.

Financial terms of his RBC deal have not been disclosed.
