Equipment provider Eleiko has entered into a strategic partnership with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC), the local organiser for the next edition of the quadrennial multi-sport event for member nations of the Commonwealth.
Eleiko will supply a full range of equipment for the weightlifting and para-powerlifting competitions, as well as providing logistical support for the installation and event tear-down at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.
The American manufacturer will also have a strong brand presence across the two-week event, which will be returning to Australia for the first time since 2006. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
“Eleiko is delighted to have been selected as the official weightlifting equipment supplier and to support GOLDOC to deliver GC2018,” said Andreas Andrén, Eleiko’s vice president of international sales. “We are committed to providing the athletes with the world’s best weightlifting and para-powerlifting equipment and using our six decades of experience to help ensure the competitions are an enormous success.”
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will run from 4th to 15th April. Weightlifting will feature during the opening five days of competition between 5th and 9th April, while the para-powerlifting competition will be held on 10th April.
