Having already secured Mitsubishi Motors UK as their new primary partner, Gloucester Rugby have announced X-Blades Sports as their new kit supplier for the 2015/16 season.
X-Blades, an Australian company which launched in the UK a little over three years ago, will provide the Aviva Premiership club with playing kit for domestic and European matches, as well as leisure wear and training apparel.
X-Blades already sponsors Gloucester players Jonny May, Rob Cook and Richard Hibbard.
X-Blades’ owners, including English World Cup winner Jason Robinson and company managing director Shane Miller, expressed their delight with the new partnership.
Miller stated: “Landing the Gloucester contract is amazing as we can now add Gloucester Rugby to our impressive list of partner clubs, which includes Cronulla Sharks, Parramatta Eels, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers.”
Gloucester chief executive Stephen Vaughan added: “We've consulted with supporter groups over the potential designs and I think we're going to have the most popular kits for many a year.”
X-Blades have ensured that the Gloucester players are satisfied with the level of equipment, with Vaughan adding: “Our playing department have been very much involved in the design process of the playing and training gear for next season and they’ve been delighted with the quality of kit and the approach that X-Blades have had to providing cutting edge performance wear.”
Jason Robinson, a former international who competed in both codes of rugby, has been helping drive the X-Blades brand since retiring from the game.
"I'm still heavily involved in rugby as a sport, not so much on the field but being able to offer clubs and players alike some of the best clothing and equipment on the market is very exciting,” he said.
“To be able to compete with the longer established brands in the UK is great and this is just the start of things to come!"
The X-Blades announcement comes after an upgrade of Gloucester’s club shop and online store, which will allow Kingsholm locals easier access to the new range of supporter apparel and equipment.
