Top-flight French soccer side Girondins de Bordeaux have signed a new commercial deal with Intersport.
The Switzerland-based international sporting goods retailer, which is already a partner of nine other Ligue 1 outfits, will become Bordeaux’s pocket sponsor in a deal which will see the company’s branding appear on the front of the team’s playing shirts.
Additionally, Intersport will work with the club to carry out various fan-focused activations, and will also create a new digital series that will be promoted on Facebook.
“We are proud to associate our professional team with the world leader in the distribution of sporting goods,” said Stéphane Martin, president of Girondins de Bordeaux. “Intersport was already one of our partners in the creation of our women's section and they prove once again their desire to support the club.”
Jacky Rihouet, Intersport’s president in France and Belgium, added: “We are delighted to announce this new alliance with a major French football club such as FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Intersport is now associated with a popular club, in line with our values and close to our many stores in the region.”
Bordeaux moved up to 13th in Ligue 1 following their 1-0 win away to Troyes on Saturday. They host Caen in their next fixture on Tuesday.
