Gilbert is set to become the official matchday ball supplier for France's National Rugby League (LNR).
The three-season deal will see the rugby equipment manufacturer provide balls for the Top 14, the country’s premier domestic rugby union competition, and second-tier Pro D2.
In addition, all matchday balls will include branding from each competition.
The agreement comes at a historic time for French rugby. It was announced on Monday that two Paris-based Top 14 teams, Racing 92 and Stade Francais, are in the process of merging in order to consolidate their resources and form one ‘super-club’ from next season. An extra promotion place will be offered at the end of the current campaign to a team from the Pro D2.
Racing 92 and Stade Francais have won a combined 20 league titles.
