Friday’s Daily Deal Round-Up: Overwatch League gets big tech sponsors and more

Esports: Tech giants HP and Intel have agreed sponsorship and supply deals with video game publisher Blizzard Entertainment to sponsor the Overwatch League, a major new multi-city esports competition launching in the new year after preliminary events in December. The league has attracted investment from within the sports industry, with the likes of Arsenal and LA Rams owner Stan Kroenke and New York Patriots owner Robert Kraft among those whose vehicles have committed to a US$20 million franchise fee.

Cricket: English county cricket club Middlesex have appointed specialist London-based agency We Are Disrupt to help deliver their commercial strategy on women's and girls' cricket.

Sailing: Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has become the data analytics partner of the 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race. Vestas will use its climate library, developed from its installations across the globe, to help teams on the round-the-world yacht race plan for each stage, while the company will also become part of a new 'task force' conceptualising the next generation of boat designs.

Basketball: Brazilian broadcaster Band has renewed its deal with the country's National Basketball League (LNB) to broadcast selected games from another season of the elite Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). The commercial network first signed as a broadcast partner of the league in 2016.

More basketball: Australian basketball team Brisbane Bullets have agreed a front-of-jersey sponsorship deal with Pathion. The renewable energy company's logo will also appear on the Bullets' training apparel and broadcast signage assets in a deal described by the team as their biggest since their return to the National Basketball League (NBL) in October 2016.

Also in basketball: US pay-TV broadcaster CBS Sports Network have agreed a deal for live coverage of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic, a two-day NCAA college basketball tournament being played at the Northern Irish capital's SSE Arena on 1st and 2nd December.

Horse racing: Australian retailer Myer has renewed with Victoria Racing Club as the official fashion partner of the Melbourne Cup Carnival horse racing event until 2023. It will also become a supporter of the Melbourne Cup trophy tour across Australia.

Soccer: Brazilian commercial broadcaster SBT has agreed a deal for the TV rights to the Copa do Nordeste, a regional club soccer tournament.
