Second-tier German soccer side Fortuna Düsseldorf have expanded their agreement with long-term premium partner Toyo Tires.
The four-year extension will see the tyre and rubber manufacturer’s logo adorn the sleeve of the 2. Bundesliga team’s playing shirts.
According to German outlet Sponsors.de, the Japanese company will pay the club an annual €300,000, representing a 50 per cent increase on the previous contract. The deal was brokered by Infront Sports and Media.
“We are very pleased that an existing partnership could be expanded,” said Robert Schäfer, Fortuna Düsseldorf’s chief executive officer. “The first year of cooperation with Toyo Tires was characterised by constructive co-operation and great trust. The expansion of the partnership reflects our efforts to inspire the Japanese community and the Japanese companies in Düsseldorf. We are proud to be able to present another strong brand with Toyo Tires on our jersey.”
“We are very pleased to announce this even closer partnership,” added Kenta Kuribayashi, president of Toyo Tires Europe. “Embossed by ambition and a proud history, Toyo Tires and Fortuna are the perfect combination. Looking back on our first successful year together, the next step was an easy decision for us. We look forward to another with even more success.”
Fortuna Düsseldorf finished 11th in the 2. Bundesliga in 2016/17, and kick off the new season at home to Eintracht Braunschweig on 31st July.
