FIS and EBU to promote World Snow Day
The International Ski Federation (FIS) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have agreed a partnership to promote the FIS Snow Day on 20th January 2013.
The event, part of the FIS’s international ‘Bring Children to the Snow’ campaign, seeks to raise participation in snow sports among younger generations. This new partnership will see the EBU broadcast a promotional trailer across its Eurovision network and its members’ distribution channels to raise awareness of the event.
“The partnership between FIS and the European Broadcasting Union for promotion of World Snow Day is testament to the great partnership between the two organizations,” said FIS president Gian Franco Kasper. “It will not only help spread the message about the importance of bringing children to the snow sports, but also encourage families in cities and other urban areas to experience the joy of snow activities on this special day.”
EBU head of winter sports Ingolfur Hannesson added: “This fantastic FIS initiative fits perfectly with the mission and values of the EBU and our public service members. We are pleased to be part of this project to encourage all families, regardless of race, religion or financial status, and in particular their children to experience the amazing world of snow sports.”
