Fina, the global governing body for aquatic sports, has partnered with sports media technology provider Deltatre to launch its new over-the-top (OTT) platform FINAtv.
Starting with this year’s Fina World Championships in Budapest, the subscription service will provide live and exclusive coverage of the international association’s marquee competitions. The streaming platform will be available on mobile, tablet, desktop and television.
The offering will include exclusive interviews, features and commentary across Fina-sanctioned swimming, diving, high-diving, synchronised swimming, open-water and water polo events.
Under the terms of the agreement with Deltatre, FINAtv will be powered by the Bruin Sports Capital-owned company’s Diva video player and Forge content management system.
“FINAtv will be a gateway for the sport to cultivate a new generation of fans that consume information at all times on all platforms,” said Julio Maglione, president of Fina. “The service will offer outstanding programming year-round including from our most celebrated events and will be presented in a state of the art platform. We are excited for its launch and proud to work with Deltatre on this important initiative for the sport.”
“We are honoured to be selected by Fina to launch this new service which will be a glorious showcase for aquatic sports,” said Giampiero Rinaudo, chief executive of Deltatre. “The FINAtv platform was crafted from Deltatre’s decades of leading edge digital innovation and our passion for global sports and will offer a state of the art viewing experience that will excite and entertain lifelong fans and newcomers to the sport.”
The 2017 Fina World Championships will be the 17th edition of the event, and gets underway on 14th July before concluding on the 30th.
