Fijian television station Mai TV has secured the local rights to Germany's Bundesliga for the remainder of the 2013/14 season and the 2014/15 campaign.

According to local reports, the broadcaster will begin showing games when the league's winter break concludes later this month.

Mai TV acquired the rights from DFL Sports Enterprises, the Bundesliga's commercial and marketing offshoot.

"We are extremely happy to have secured this agreement and are so looking forward to bringing all these wonderful matches to viewers here in Fiji," said Mai TV's general manager Marc Santos.

Additionally, Mai TV revealed it has begun negotiations about sharing the rights to this summer's Fifa World Cup with two other Fijian broadcasters, FBC and Fiji TV. In September, Mai picked up the rights to a number of Fifa tournaments including Brazil 2014. It previously broadcast the 2010 World Cup in South Africa to Fijian viewers.
