Top-flight German soccer side FC Köln have agreed a three-year extension with the Rewe Group.
The retail and tourism company’s logo will remain on the front of FC Köln’s home and away jerseys until the end of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season. Rewe will also continue to enjoy strong branding at the club’s home ground, the RheinEnergieStadion, as well across their digital and social media platforms.
The Rewe Group has been the main sponsor of FC Köln since 2007. The financial terms of the renewal were not disclosed by either party.
“We are very happy that we were able to reach an agreement with the Rewe Group to continue to work together,” said Alexander Wehrle, FC Köln’s managing director. “We have had a long partnership that is based on trust and has been successful for both sides in the past years.
“Not only did Rewe offer us a fair deal at market value, but they fit exceptionally to the FC brand as a company of the region. The Rewe Group stands for international and modern business with local roots and is well known and loved by our fans.”
FC Köln finished fifth in the Bundesliga in 2016/17. The Peter Stöger-manged team have lost both of their opening fixtures of their 2017/18 campaign and currently lie in 17th position.
