Top-tier German soccer side FC Köln have announced a new four-year partnership with Uhlsport.
Starting from the 2018/19 season, the German sportswear manufacturer will become the Bundesliga outfit’s official kit supplier. The company will produce playing kits for every team at the club, along with training gear and other specialised items. In return, Uhlsport will benefit from a range of exclusive advertising opportunities.
According to German outlet Sponsors.de, the deal is worth an annual €3.5 million (US$4.1 million). The agreement will end FC Köln’s partnership with Erima, which is another German brand.
Alexander Wehle, FC Köln’s managing director, said: “FC Köln is not an off-the-rack club, so we also do not want off-the-rack club kits. In Uhlsport we found a partner for the next four years that meets all of our requirements of quality, trust, and individuality.
“The representatives of Uhlsport proved during the negotiations that they are fully committed to working with us starting in 2018. We are excited about the prospect of working with a traditional German company.”
Dominik Solleder, managing director of sales for Uhlsport, added: “The whole Uhlsport team is very happy about this partnership with FC Köln. For us it is an important step that fits well into our sales strategy. Top quality, trust, and modern products are how we were able to win over FC Köln. This is something we want to show more and more of in both the national and international football world in the years to come.”
FC Köln are 12th in the Bundesliga following their 1-0 defeat away to Borussia Mönchengladbach in their opening game of the season. They play their next fixture at home to Hamburg on 25th August.
