OC Sport, the organiser and owner of the Extreme Sailing Series, has announced a new collaboration with technology company Cisco.
The Californian corporation will provide a full Wi-Fi service throughout all 2016 Extreme Sailing Series event venues and, in addition, offer a wireless internet access at the public race villages, VIP lounges and on the water.
The first venue at which the public, race officials, and sailors will benefit from the Cisco Wi-Fi solutions is this week’s event in Cardiff, which is the third leg of the 2016 season.
“We are delighted to welcome Cisco on board,” said Andy Tourell, event director of Extreme Sailing. “The Extreme Sailing Series is at the leading edge of sailing and it is only right that we engage with a company of Cisco’s pedigree to continue innovating the way that we all communicate, enhancing the experience for all stakeholders: public, teams, VIPs, race management and the world’s media.”
Now in its tenth year, the Extreme Sailing Series is an inshore global sailing championship that features the super-fast, hydro-foiling GC32 catamarans.
After the meeting in Cardiff, the series will head to Hamburg, St Petersburg, Istanbul, Lisbon, and finally in Sydney on 10th December.
