European rugby union round up
The start of the 2011/12 European rugby season has seen three of the UK's leading professional clubs agree new sponsorship deals.
In the English Premiership, 2010/11 league champions Saracens have agreed a one-year deal with car dealership Alan Day Volkswagen while London rivals Harlequins have signed back-of-shirt sponsor in Nuffield Health.
Saracens' deal sees Alan Day Volkswagen supplying a range of Volkswagen vehicles to the coaching team, medical staff and players, to be used for both general use and to support the clubs ongoing community projects. Under terms of the agreement, financial details of which remain unknown, the cars will be branded with both Alan Day Volkswagen and Saracens emblems.
Quins' deal meanwhile sees Nuffield Health appointed as the club's official health partner in a one-year agreement that is estimated to be worth US$100,000. In return for this financial contribution, Nuffield Health will receive branding on the back of the club's playing shirts in addition to signage at Harlequins' home ground, the Twickenham Stoop.
In a further rugby deal, RabboDirect Pro12 side Glasgow Warriors have signed a major sponsor in Greenbelt, a company that owns and manages greenbelt land formed as part of new housing developments.
