Emirates extend AFC involvement

Emirates airline has extended its sponsorship of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for four more years.

Emirates airline has extended its sponsorship of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for four more years.

"We have been involved in Asian football since 1996 when we were the Official Airline of the AFC Asian Cup and we have all come a long way since then," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of the Emirates Group and a member of the ruling family of Dubai.

AFC president Mohamed bin Hammam said: "It is through the support of our partners, such as Emirates, that helps us to continue the growth and development of Asian football and we are extremely grateful to them."

He thanked Emirates, "for their loyalty to the sport of football not only in the region but also around the world." 

The airline, the national carrier of the UAE, also sponsor English Premier League club Arsenal – the club’s ground is known as the Emirates Stadium.
