Eleven Sports has secured exclusive rights to show action from the NBA G League, the official minor league of the National Basketball Association (NBA), in the United States, Belgium, Luxembourg, Singapore and Taiwan.
The network will show up to 120 live regular season games and additional localised content this season, beginning with this week’s NBA G League Showcase, an in-season scouting event which sees the league’s 26 teams each play two regular season games.
Eleven’s coverage will feature local language commentary in each market. The new deal builds on the network’s recent five-year renewal of its NBA rights deal in Taiwan.
“We are thrilled to build on our strong partnership with the NBA by adding NBA G League to our basketball portfolio, strengthening Eleven Sports’ position as a go-to destination for fans of one of the world’s most popular sports,” said Danny Menken, the network’s group managing director.
“We know there is a significant hunger for basketball globally and our aim is to meet the demand of these dedicated fans. We are looking forward to working with the NBA in innovative and interactive ways to help grow and promote the NBA G League.”
Last month, the NBA G League announced a new streaming partnership with Twitch, the live video platform best known for its coverage of esports.
