Eleven Sports scores European soccer broadcast rights double

Global sports network Eleven Sports has expanded its soccer portfolio in Belgium with the acquisition of broadcast rights to German club soccer’s top tier, the Bundesliga, whilst also extending its partnership with the Italian top flight, Serie A, for a further three years.

Eleven’s Bundesliga deal, agreed with IMG, will run from the 2018/19 season until 2020/21 and will include exclusive highlights and near-live clips for social media.

Meanwhile, the US-based company’s renewed agreement with Serie A will see it show exclusive highlights as well as near-live clips for social media until the 2020/21 season.

Eleven Sports is available in Belgium on cable, IPTV, satellite and through its own over-the-top (OTT) platform.

The financial terms of the two deals have not been disclosed.

“We are thrilled to establish ourselves as the number one destination for the top European football leagues in Belgium following the addition of Bundesliga to our very strong football portfolio which already includes Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1,” said Anouk Mertens, managing director, Belgium at Eleven Sports.

“Eleven Sports is available in every home in Belgium so we are in a great position to offer all fans the opportunity to enjoy every match from some of the world’s top sports leagues through our extensive live coverage and in-depth, pre and post-match studio and pitch-side analysis.”
