Indian pay-TV broadcaster DSport has secured rights to the 2018 edition of the Masters, golf’s first major championship of the year.

The Discovery Communications-owned channel will show complete coverage of the tournament, which is staged annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA.

This year’s edition of the Masters, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday this week, will take on added significance for golf fans in India, after Indian youngster Shubhankar Sharma received a special invitation to compete at the tournament. Sharma, 21, has enjoyed a breakthrough season, including a top-ten finish in his first ever PGA Tour event, and will be playing alongside the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and reigning champion Sergio Garcia.

Last year, DSport also showed coverage of golf’s three other major championships: the US Open, the PGA Championship and The Open.
