Derby County’s Pride Park reveals extension plans

Second-tier English soccer side Derby County have submitted an application to Derby City Council to extend the East Stand of their Pride Park Stadium.

The extension will not, however, increase the stand’s capacity.

According to a club statement, a two-storey development will be built on to the side of the existing stand. The facility will have large screens throughout the open plan space showing the build-up to the match, post-match analysis and other sporting events.

The 3,500 square metre space will include a food court and bars that would be for ‘the use of the wider community’, as well as a fan zone when Derby play at home.

Derby County currently occupy sixth position in the English Football League (EFL) Championship table. Gary Rowett’s side host midlands rivals Burton at Pride Park this weekend.
