Deloitte signs on as sponsor with US Olympic teams
Tax and financial services company Deloitte will sponsor the US Olympic Committee (USOC) until 2012. The three-year deal will take in sponsorship of the 2010 and 2012 US Olympic and Paralympic Teams, the 2011 US Pan American Team and the 2010 Youth Olympic Games team.
"We believe the business community has a powerful role to play in answering the call to service to help nonprofit organizations deliver results," said Deloitte chief executive, Barry Salzberg. "There is no better opportunity to put the intellectual capital and business knowledge of our people to work than through the delivery of our exceptional professional services capabilities for the strategic, operational, and financial benefit of the USOC and US Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls."
USOC sponsorship deals typically cost between US$2 million and US$3million per year. Deloitte's is believed to be at the upper end of that scale because of the comprehensive nature of its agreement.
