Cricket: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise the Delhi Daredevils have extended their title sponsorship deal with Daikin for a fourth successive year.

In a press conference where Gautam Gambhir was confirmed as the team's captain for the new 2018 season, the team unveiled their Daikin-branded kit and presented representatives from the Japanese air-conditioner manufacturer with a certificate of partnership.

"This year with the powerful team with us I remain confident that the Daikin association with Delhi Daredevils will be further underlined going forward," said Kanwaljeet Jawa, chief executive and managing director of Daikin India.

"The Delhi Daredevils is the most promising team of the league in 2018. The decision to associate aims at fuelling the resurgence of cricket amongst youngsters."

The Daredevils have also signed up Cargill India as a principal sponsor, with the food company to promote its NatureFresh edible oils and wheat flour brand under the association. In a flurry of commercial activity for the Delhi franchise, Suzuki motorcycle’s 'Gixxer' brand has also signed up as a principal sponsor.

Basketball: Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant was amongst the newest investors in Whoop, a wearable fitness tracker popular with professional and elite athletes.

The US$25 million Series C funding round was led by UAE71 Capital, and other backers included Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey and former National Basketball Association (NBA) commissioner David Stern, with the venture arm of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) having previously put money up.

In China, the Haima Group has become the first automobile sponsor of the Sina 3X3 Golden League.

Ice hockey: Emotion Media has entered into a partnership with the owners of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Winnipeg Jets franchise and their Bell MTS Place home arena, True North Sports + Entertainment, aimed at furthering the developer's flagship fan engagement platform, Fannex.

Soccer: Campeonato Brasileiro Série A football club Sao Paulo is set to agree a six-year free-to-air and pay-per-view rights deal with media company Globo after the deal was approved by the club’s board of directors.

Major League Soccer's (MLS) Sporting Kansas City have announced a renewal of their radio broadcast partnership with Sports Radio 810 WHB through the 2020 season.

United Soccer League (USL) club FC Cincinnati has signed Kingsgate Logistics Services as the US second tier outfit's shorts sponsor for three years beginning in the 2018 season.

In England’s third-tier, Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has sold half of his stake in the League One outfit to Canada-based investors Dr Jason Neale and Stewart Thompson. The North American pair have become co-owners with immediate effect.

Baseball: Major League Baseball's (MLB) San Francisco Giants have teamed up with bikeshare company LimeBike to promote the Bay Area-based smart mobility solution as the franchise's official bikeshare partner for their 2018 spring training season.

Football: The National Football League's (NFL) Tennessee Titans have extended their partnership with Ticketmaster. The ticketing platform will continue to serve as the official marketplace for the Titans and their Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Golf: PGA Tour Latin America has announced that its newly created match-play tournament will be held in Riviera Maya, Mexico, at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club with international healthcare group Bupa serving as the title sponsor.

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has announced that Umbel will be its official marketing partner.

Equipment company Lynx Golf has added eight-time Solheim Cup player Trish Johnson to its team of ambassadors.

Motorsport: The International Speedway Corporation (ISC) has entered into an exclusive partnership with TicketGuardian to offer Nascar fans ticket insurance for events at ISC motorsports facilities.

Surfing: Waterproof smartphone case manufacturer LifeProof has agreed a deal to sponsor the World Surf League. The deal will cover North American events in 2018, as well as the season opener, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast in Australia.

Hosting: Lake Placid is set to host the 2023 Winter Universiade after the International University Sports Federation (FISU) approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the US resort’s bid for the multi-sport event.

Regina Baresi, the captain of the Inter Milan women's team, has become the first Italian female soccer star to secure a personal deal with Adidas. The 26-year-old striker, who is the daughter of Inter president Giuseppe Baresi, said: "In a football year with such an important goal as the promotion in Serie A, being chosen by Adidas for a partnership has made my season even more stimulating and beautiful. The first Adidas Italian female player: receiving their trust makes me optimistic about achieving many goals."
