DAZN, the over-the-top (OTT) service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired exclusive rights in a host of markets to the world heavyweight boxing unification match between British fighter Anthony Joshua and New Zealand’s Joseph Parker.
DAZN will show the fight in Germany, Austria and Canada, as well as on a non-exclusive basis in Switzerland.
The sports service will also cover all the action in the run-up to the bout in partnership with the event’s promoters, Matchroom Boxing and Duco Events. This will include the weigh-in and all press conferences between the two boxers, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and an archive of previous fights.
John Gleasure, chief commercial officer of DAZN, said: “Unlike other broadcasters, DAZN doesn’t charge a premium for box office events. This fight is another example of our commitment to make sport more affordable and accessible than ever before.”
IBF, WBA and IBO titlist Anthony Joshua will be taking on WBO champion Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on 31st March. The fight will be only the second in boxing history in which two undefeated heavyweight champions compete in a unification bout.
