Darts world champion Rob Cross stays on Target

British darts player Rob Cross has extended his sponsorship deal with Target Darts.

The 27-year-old, who beat countryman Phil Taylor in January to become world champion, will continue to exclusively use and promote the manufacturer’s products until at least 2023.

“Rob winning the world championships was only the start of what I think is going to be a very special career,” said Garry Plummer, managing director of Target Darts. “I truly believe that Rob is going to be adding a lot more major titles to his collection.

“This is just the beginning of a magnificent career for Rob, and Target Darts are honoured to have been part of it from the start and we are looking forward to working with him over the next five years.”

Despite Cross’s unforeseen rise to darts’ top table, the former electrician has experienced a recent drop in form, losing six competitive games in a row. He is still widely tipped to challenge Dutchman Michael van Gerwen’s longstanding dominance in the sport, although he did lose 7-2 to the 28-year-old on the opening night of the Unibet Premier League.
