Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) has extended its long-term partnership with Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) for a further year.
The renewal will see the brewing company become the official beer and cider partner of Australia’s men’s and women’s national rugby league teams, which are known as the Kangaroos and the Harvey Norman Jillaroos respectively.
Additionally, CUB will become the official beer and cider partner of the State of Origin series, an annual best-of-three match series between representative teams from the states of New South Wales and Queensland.
The extension brings the association between the two parties up to 19 years.
Andrew Abdo, chief commercial officer of the NRL, said: “CUB has been a supporter of rugby league and its fans over many years and we thank them for a partnership that is extending to be one of our longest standing. We look forward to even greater opportunities together in the years ahead.”
Richard Oppy, CUB’s vice president of marketing, added: “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the NRL. It’s a terrific relationship and we are looking forward to taking our sponsorship leverage to the next level.
“CUB has a long association with rugby league in Australia and we’re proud to be continuing to develop world class fan engagement initiatives to support this great and iconic game.”
