Top-tier Brazilian soccer side Corinthians have announced a partnership with Agibank.
Under the terms of the deal, the financial services company will serve as the sleeve sponsor of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A outfit until the end of the current season.
Corinthians have not had a sleeve sponsor since 2014, when Fisk paid around R$10 million (US$2.8 million) for the space.
The financial details of Agibank’s agreement have not been disclosed, but Brazilian media speculates that it could be in the region of R$9 million (US$2.5 million).
Corinthians announced the arrival of their new partner on social media without disclosing the identity, and provided a number for messaging app WhatsApp. A text to the number would send the user a link to reveal the sponsor and download Agibank’s app.
"Hello! All right? We believe that nowadays everything can be done by cell phone. Even find out who the new sponsor of Timon [Corinthians] is," the message says, to emphasise Agibank’s focus on providing a fully digital service.
Corinthians are second in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A after winning two of their opening five games of the new season. They lost 2-1 at home to Independiente in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition, on Thursday. They will host Ceará on 6th May.
