Murray Timber Group has extended its commercial partnership with Irish rugby union side Connacht Rugby for a further four years.
Murray Timber Group will remain as the provincial outfit’s front-of-shirt sponsor in the Guinness Pro14 - which features the best teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy as well as two newcomers from South Africa - as well as in the second-tier continental competition the European Challenge Cup.
The Irish timber provider will continue to enjoy strong branding at Connacht’s home ground, the Galway Sportsgrounds. The financial terms of the renewal, which runs until the end of the 2020/21 European rugby union season, have not been revealed.
“We are very happy to extend our deal with Murray Timber Group up to 2021,” said Brian Mahony, Connacht Rugby’s head of commercial and marketing. “This partnership, which has been in place since the summer of 2014, has proven a great success. With the newly expanded Pro14 Championship, a position on our playing jersey has become an even more valuable asset and we look forward to showcasing the Murray Timber Group name on our jerseys for the next four years.”
Connacht Rugby finished eighth in the Guinness Pro12 in 2016/17. Their season was marred when coach Pat Lam announced in January that he would be leaving the club at the end of their campaign to join English rugby union side Bristol, who finished 12th in the top-tier Premiership and were relegated to the Championship.
Kieran Keane has since replaced Lam as head coach of Connacht Rugby.
