CNPC signs up for Ashgabat 2017

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has been named as the latest official partner of the Ashgabat 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG).

The deal will see CNPC, which is China’s largest producer and supplier of oil and gas, listed as the official oil and gas partner of the quadrennial multi-sport event.

The company has been operating in Turkmenistan for over ten years, and has a long history of investing in the development of sports and the improvement of people’s health, having served in the same role for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, chairman of the Ashgabat 2017 executive committee, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have CNPC on board as an official partner. It is great to have yet another global brand join the Ashgabat 2017 family which continues to grow, demonstrating what a truly world class event the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be.”

Lee Shulan, CNPC IT’s director general, added: “Ashgabat 2017 is another clear demonstration of the tremendous contribution Turkmenistan has been making in the global sports movement. We are extremely excited to be a part of this world class sporting event.”

AIMAG 2017 is scheduled to take place between 17th and 27th September, and will feature 21 sports staged across 15 venues.
