China’s Olympic soccer team to play in Germany

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has signed an agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) that will allow the China under-20 Olympic team to compete in Germany's fourth tier.

According to state-owned news outlet Chinanews, the Chinese age representative side will be playing in the Regional Liga Südwest from the start of its 2017/18 season as part of their preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games.

Friedrich Curtius, general secretary of the DFB, stated that 16 out of 19 teams in the fourth tier of the German leagues have agreed to play against China under-20s on a regular basis. However, the results from matches with the Chinese team will not be counted towards the rankings on the league table.
