English soccer side Everton have announced a three-year community partnership with beer brand Chang.
The two parties will collaborate on a series of community programmes and initiatives in both Thailand and Merseyside, such as coaching trips to and from Thailand, the Chang Junior Cup and the continued development of the Thaibev Academy in Bangkok
The Thai brewery has been the Liverpool-based club’s main partner since 2004 but will be replaced this summer as part of a set of new five-year sponsorship agreements which include a shirt sleeve and training ground sponsor. Chief executive Robert Elstone revealed news of the deals in January, giving them a combined value of UK£75 million, but the identity of the companies involved was not confirmed.
Chang’s lead sponsorship of Everton concludes at the end of the 2016/17 Premier League season, with its community partnership set to commence from 1st June.
“The enduring success of our partnership with Chang is based on a set of shared values and a deep and genuine friendship between the two organisations,” said Robert Elstone, chief executive of Everton. “I’m really pleased that we will be continuing to work together with a clearly defined focus on community – something which is incredibly important to both organisations.
“I would like to thank Chang for everything they have done for Everton over the last 13 years and for the commitment they have now made to support the communities both in Thailand and Merseyside.”
