Scottish soccer giants Celtic have signed a new deal with Philippines-based betting company Dafabet.
The online gambling firm is already the Scottish Premiership club’s main shirt sponsor and has agreed a new five-year contract, taking the partnership through to the end of the 2024/25 season.
The financial terms of the agreement have not been released, but Celtic described the figure as both a record for the club and the biggest in Scottish soccer history.
The Old Firm club, who have won their domestic league for each of the last seven years, first partnered with Dafabet in 2016, with their initial deal due to expire at the end of the 2018/19 season, which started with a 3-1 win for Celtic over Livingston on Saturday.
Peter Lawwell, chief executive at Celtic, said: “We are absolutely delighted to secure such a lucrative, long-term arrangement with Dafabet, a fantastic partner with whom we have already enjoyed such a great relationship.
“Celtic is currently in a terrific position on and off the field, achieving regular football success and with an infrastructure of strength and stability. Celtic continues to be one of the world’s great football clubs and through these strong fundamentals we continue to be able to attract and deliver such quality partnerships.”
Celtic are currently managed by former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. The club have two Champions League qualifying rounds to negotiate in order to qualify for this season’s group stage.
